Having just over a week until 'The Village' takes to the skies has me more than excited. In previous weeks to prepare, we took part in Buffalo's Kwibuka 25th memorial ceremony which had experiences shared by previous members of the Anne Frank Project and survivors of the genocide of '94 against the Tutsi.
This is just a taste of what is to come as we depart for Kigali, Rwanda on the first of June. In our meetings we teaching artists are refining the tools and skills which have been cultivated over the course of a couple months. We will utilize these exercises with educators located in our sister city Muhanga for the students there. For me this adventure will open up a world of possibilities and I cannot fathom what awaits us all on the other side of the great wide shining sea. |
